Crime Patterns and Analysis The Journal of the International Symposium on Environmental Criminology and Crime Analysis |
|
Editorial Philosophy
Crime Patterns and Analysis is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the study of crime in its many contexts and environments. These include, but are not limited to, neighborhoods and crime, environmental criminology, agent-based modeling, routine activities theory, computer simulations and models, crime mapping, crime analysis, and situational crime prevention/reduction. Areas also addressed by CPA are analytical approaches such as computational criminology and complex systems theory. Articles are published in one of two formats. Feature articles are based on completed research with sophisticated methodology and analyses. These are typically longer articles (35-40 pages) and include detailed discussion of the findings. Research Notes are shorter articles (less than 25 pages) of one of four types: research in progress with findings requiring quick dissemination; research based on less sophisticated methods or analyses; negative findings of completed research; and conceptual articles furthering research in this area. Both types of articles are peer reviewed. Articles are published on the web in a format that allows interactive access to maps, animation, and other elements beyond what would be available in a print media. The articles are also designed to be printed in a journal article style with static images of interactive components. |
